Summer Walker’s ‘Life on Earth’ Debuts at No. 1 on Top R&B Albums Chart

Summer Walker acquires her second No. 1 on Top R&B Albums chart as Life on Earth debuts atop the chart dated July 25. The five-song EP, released on LVRN/Interscope, starts with 28,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending July 16, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

The singer-songwriter previously ruled Top R&B Albums with her studio debut LP, Over It, which debuted at No. 1 last October. The album topped the chart for 14 nonconsecutive weeks and has yet to dip below No. 7. On the latest list, where Life debuts at No. 1, Over It ranks at No. 3.

Beyond its R&B chart-topping arrival, Life opens at No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and at No. 8 on the all-genre Billboard 200.

As Life arrives, all five of the EP’s tracks debut on Hot R&B Songs:

No. 5, “Let It Go”
No. 6, “My Affection,” with PARTYNEXTDOOR
No. 8, “SWV,” with NO1-NOAH
No. 9, “White Tee,” with NO1-NOAH
No. 10, “Deeper”

Notably, the entire collection resides in the chart’s top 10. Summer previously landed six tracks in the region on the chart dated Oct. 19, making her the only female act to land as many titles in the top 10 at once since the chart began in 2012. The Weeknd and Khalid each share the weekly record – eight songs – within the top 10 simultaneously.

Walker also posts a sixth chart hit this week on Hot R&B Songs through a featured turn on Trey Songz’s “Back Home.” Though it improves in overall performance, the tune slides 13-15 in its seventh week largely due to the new Walker entries.
