The series finale of Insecure is set to premiere in October. Issa Rae previously announced that the award-winning comedy-drama was wrapping after the fifth season.
“Very excited to film our fifth and final season! We couldn’t have told a complete story without the tremendous support of our audience and the faith of @HBO. See y’all soon!” she tweeted.
In an interview with Deadline Issa said, “I’m so grateful to be able to play this character, who is a version of me, and in the same way that I want this character to grow, I want to be able to grow too,” she added to Entertainment Tonight. “So I think that’s what comes with it — I’ve played her for a long time, and I have so much more that I want to do.”

Insecure explores the life of the main character, Issa Dee, who goes through these phases with friendships & relationships while touching on a lot of uncomfortable everyday experiences like social and racial issues that relate to the Black experience.
Season 4 ended with Issa having to decide what is best for her. She reconnects with her ex Lawrence who is played by Jay Ellis, and just as they seemed to be in a good place he tells her that his ex-girlfriend Candola, who is played by Christina Elmore, is pregnant.
