Whitney Houston’s ‘Greatest Love of All’ Remembered In New Lyric Video

Vinyl collector’s edition celebrating 35th anniversary of singer's debut album arrives June 30

At a moment in time when love is especially needed comes an inspiring lyric video for one of Whitney Houston’s most enduring chart-topping hits, “Greatest Love of All.” The song is featured on the late singer’s 1985 self-titled debut album, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year with the release of a two-album 12” vinyl collector’s edition.

Available today (June 22), the “Greatest Love of All” video underscores the song’s resonating lyrics with powerful images and video footage chronicling the black experience from 1940 to the present day, including clips and photos featuring Houston herself. The lyric video was created by the Black Archive, operated by Chicago-based curator Renata Cherlise, in partnership with the Whitney Houston Estate and Sony Music. A newly remastered 4K version of the “Greatest Love of All” music video was issued earlier this year on Feb. 14.

Arriving June 30 as Black Music Month closes, the Whitney Houston two-album vinyl edition was produced by Vinyl Me, Please in association with Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music.

The set features the original album — inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013 — and the first U.S. release of Whitney Dancin’ Special. Houston, a six-time Grammy winner, will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame later this year. Owing to COVID-19, the induction ceremony has been postponed to Nov. 7.
