Cardi B Interviews Bernie Sanders on Coronavirus, Joe Biden and Donald Trump: ‘We Are in For a Ride’

Cardi B has questions. So many questions. And Uncle Bernie has answers.

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper hosted Bernie Sanders for an Instagram live session which drilled deep into his next political move, health care, the economic crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, and president Trump’s mishandling of it all.

Sanders should have a little more time on his hands than usual. Last week, the fiercely independent Vermont senator dropped out of the Democratic race, leaving Joe Biden as the party’s candidate to face off against Trump in the 2020 presidential race.

He’s certainly not in vacation-mode.

Cardi put the question to Sanders. Why he’s endorsing Biden, and why should Americans vote for him? For starters, “Trump is to my mind the most dangerous president in the modern history of America,” Sanders explained. “This is a guy who lies all the time, he doesn’t believe in science, he downplayed this whole coronavirus which has led to the deaths of many thousands of people unnecessarily, he doesn’t believe in the Constitution, he thinks he’s above the law. This is a bad news guy who needs to be defeated.” And Sanders will do anything to achieve that goal.

The socialist Democrat articulated what he would contribute to Biden’s quest. He’s keen to help the former VP become a “more progressive candidate,” taking on the challenge of raising the minimum wage to at least $15 per house, cancel student debt for many, move in the “right direction” on immigration, criminal justice reform. Biden ought to be a little more like Sanders, really.

At times holding back tears, Cardi spoke of her frustrations at the late closure of borders to manage the spread of the novel coronavirus. “They put capitalism, money, trading, goods, before our health,” she remarked.

The 78-year-old politician also pushed for laid-off workers to continue to pull-down paychecks. “We’ve got to make (Trump) an offer he can’t refuse. We’re going to put a lot of pressure,” he said. “Congress has got to be bold and stand up for those workers.”

The bottom line. Buckle up, “we are in for a ride”.

Cardi and Bernie are the modern day Odd Couple. The chart-topping hip-hop star has interviewed Sanders on several occasions, and last year threw her support behind his campaign for election.
