50 Cent is known for his countless feuds, but there is one strained relationship that hits especially close to home for the celebrated rapper. In a recent interview, Fif addressed his estrangement from his eldest son, Marquise Jackson.
To promote his new book titled Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter, 50 Cent joined XXL‘s Van Lathan for a conversation on Instagram Live. When asked about his public feud with Marquise, 50 replied, “It’s a sad situation. When you pray for success, you don’t necessarily pray for the things that come with it. It’s no such thing as success without jealousy without envy or entitlement.”
Fiddy went on to say that he has paid over $1.36 million in child support to the now 23-year-old, but apparently this wasn’t enough for Marquise or his mother. “His mum developed an entitlement that cannot be met, filtering that energy through his actual personal interests […] So, while being a privileged child, he feels deprived.”
The crux of the matter, the rapper explained, is that Marquise “had everything I didn’t have.” When Lathan asked if he loved his son, 50 said that he “used to.”
It seems 50 Cent doesn’t expect the situation to be resolved. “I didn’t think that success would cost me my firstborn but it’s the situation it is. Like, my grandfather used to say, ‘If it rattles like a snake and slithers like a snake, is it a snake or do you need to be bit?’”
