Let’s get straight to the point here: Reebok is cooking right now.
Earlier this week, Reebok unveiled a NASA collection, including clothing and a plethora of sneakers. Amongst the offering of reimagined classics, Reebok finally its introduced its space-worthy BB4000 II, BB 4K2 for short, sneaker, which had been floating around the internet months before the big reveal.
The NASA x Reebok BB4000 II sneaker is undoubtedly a head-turner. It materializes as a basketball shoe reinterpreted as a retro NASA space boot. According to Reebok’s senior footwear designer Joe Carson, the sleek design marries Reebok’s craziest shoes, like the Alien Stomper and Integrity football boot.
And the results are genuinely out of this world.
Before that, Reebok teased a collection with WNBA princess Angel Reese, which the player previewed during her game-day tunnel entrance (genius). Although larger details around the collection are still on the hush, Reebok confirmed that Reese’s icy blue Lux Bodysuit and Premier Road VI sneakers will be a part of the lineup and will drop later this year.
Reese isn’t the only WNBA player signed to Team Reebok. However, with the increased attention on both the league and the stylish player, this was a smart move on Reebok’s part. Signature sneaker next, please!
Reebok’s collaborations have also been worthy of note, linking with fashion names on the tip of the industry’s tongue for impressive projects and runway moments. White Mountaineering, Engineered Garments, Maison Margiela, Hed Mayer, Botter, JJJJound, and Palace are just a few recent collaborators.
Reebok is even fresh off a team-up with digital sneaker platform Hartcopy. Together, the pair delivered incredibly sleek Club Cs, proving Hartcopy is good at making and cataloging sneakers.
Right now, on Reebok’s website, you’ll discover a mix of the brand’s most timeless silhouettes and modern footwear. For instance, there’s a ruffled-up DMX sneaker from Reebok LTD, a premium line known for more experimental designs and collaborations (MACHINE-A has a pre-dirtied LTD shoe).
Reebok also quietly debuted its Samba-level Hammer Street, a taste of its 90s soccer archives served up on an upgraded, incredibly stylish build.
Reebok is a certified classic sneaker label that’s been around for years, and iconic steppers like the Reebok Classic Leather and Question will live forever.
But I’ll admit: when discussing sneakers today, the brand often comes to mind as a “oh yeah, I forgot about Reebok” thought.
Lately, however, the sportswear label has been up to very good things. Shaq is the president of Reebok Basketball as of 2023. Reese is breaking records on the court in the Reebok shoes. Luxury collabs continue to make fashion week exciting, while Reebok is keeping its product selection fresh with trendy drops.
It’s quite literally waking the Reebok fan in me — and probably others — to embrace the brand’s quietly good reign.
