The Charlotte Hornets and guard Terry Rozier have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $97 million. Rozier was set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2022.
Last season, Rozier was the Hornets’ leading scorer, averaging a career-best 20.4 points on 45% shooting from the field and 38.9% shooting from the three-point line.
The Boston Celtics drafted Rozier with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2015 draft. He played in Boston for four seasons, averaging 7.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.

In agreeing to a max extension with Rozier, it’s clear that Michael Jordan and the Hornets front office view Rozier as a foundational piece moving forward.
Rozier’s performance alongside the quick development of LaMelo Ball has the Hornets thinking about the playoffs next season. With Rozier getting his flowers from the Hornets now, expect scary Terry to ball out next season.
