SOURCE SPORTS: LaMelo Ball Ain’t Tripping About Not Going To College

Current NBA rookie of the year LaMelo Ball appears to have no regrets about not going to college. The Charlotte Hornets guard starred this week in a feature for GQ Magazine. In the interview, Ball discussed his decision to skip college.

“You wanna go to the league, so school’s not your priority,” said Ball. “We not trippin’ off school. We not dumb. We know how to learn. We don’t need school. And school not even teachin’ you s—. What the f— is school?”

Ball left high school during his junior year to play professionally overseas in Lithuania alongside his brother, LiAngelo. Following their time with Prienai of the LKL, LaMelo and his brother played in the JBL, created by their father, LaVar, before ultimately playing in the NBL in 2019-20 for the Illwarra Hawks prior to the 2020 NBA draft.

While Ball’s path isn’t for everyone, he did excel overseas and that journey ultimately helped him become a lottery draft pick and rookie of the year. College isn’t for everyone and Ball is an example of that.
