Elena Delle Donne is officially stepping away from basketball. She announced her retirement from the WNBA in a heartfelt Instagram post Friday, calling it “the right thing for me at the right time.”
Selected second overall by the Chicago Sky in the 2013 WNBA Draft, Delle Donne quickly became one of the league’s most dominant and beloved stars. Her career includes two MVP awards, seven All-Star nods, and a championship run with the Washington Mystics in 2019.
In 2021, she was named to The W25, the WNBA’s 25th-anniversary team, solidifying her legacy as one of the all-time greats.
