Tank to Make Broadway Debut in Alicia Keys’ ‘Hell’s Kitchen’

R&B star Durrell “Tank” Babbs is set to make his Broadway debut in Hell’s Kitchen, the Grammy Award-winning musical featuring the music of Alicia Keys. Tank will step into the role of “Davis” for a limited 13-week engagement, beginning March 12, replacing Tony Award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon, who will give his final performance on March 9.

“Stepping onto the Broadway stage is a dream come true,” said Tank. “Music and acting have always been a part of my journey, and now, I get to bring them together in a whole new way. The energy of live theater is unmatched, and I’m honored to join this incredible cast and be part of telling this powerful story through Alicia Keys’ music.”

Alicia Keys, the 17-time Grammy-winning artist behind Hell’s Kitchen, expressed her excitement about Tank’s casting: “From songwriting to producing to performing, Tank brings so many talents to the table. We are thrilled he has chosen to make his Broadway debut at Hell’s Kitchen, and we can’t wait to show audiences the power and vulnerability he brings to the role of Davis.”

With a career spanning over two decades, Tank is a multi-Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, producer, and actor. He has crafted hits like “When We,” “I Deserve,” and “Can’t Let It Show,” as well as collaborated with music icons including Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Aaliyah, and Jennifer Hudson. His acting credits include The New Edition Story, The Bobby Brown Story, and Hit the Floor.

Directed by Tony nominee Michael Greif, Hell’s Kitchen features a book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Kristoffer Diaz and choreography by Camille A. Brown. The production brings to life a coming-of-age story set to the rhythm of the 1990s, inspired by Keys’ upbringing in New York City.

Hell’s Kitchen continues its run at Broadway’s Shubert Theatre, with a cast led by Jessica Vosk, Kecia Lewis, Phillip Johnson Richardson, and Tony Award winner Maleah Joi Moon. Moon will depart the production on March 30, with Jade Milan stepping in as Ali through May 25.

Tickets for Hell’s Kitchen are available now, offering audiences the chance to witness Tank’s highly anticipated Broadway debut.
