Beauty Has Officially Caught Fashion’s Ski Bug

ILIA Beauty is putting its new moisturizer to the ultimate stress test: Will it survive a ski trip to the slopes?

On Tuesday, the skincare and cosmetics brand launched Barrier Build, a skin-protecting cream that stands up to drying, winter weather. To help celebrate the release — and prove just how effective it is — ILIA has teamed up with buzzy skiwear brand Halfdays on a custom ski suit.

“With everything we do at Halfdays, we aim to redefine what it means to be a woman in her element—especially in the elements,” Halfdays founders Kiley McKinnon (a pro skier) and Ariana Ferwerda said in a press release. “This collaboration is our vision for blending performance fashion and beauty.”

Of course, one needn’t be a winter sports enthusiast to enjoy Barrier Build, which is available at Sephora and ILIA’s website now. If you do happen to be in the market for some new ski gear, though, the ILIA x Halfdays ski suit will launch on January 16 at Halfdays’ website and at the brand’s Denver flagship store — all purchases of the suit will come with a complimentary jar of Barrier Build.

While sports and fashion have long gone hand in hand, the sports-beauty connection only began swelling last year, becoming a bonafide phenomenon at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where brands like Fenty Beauty, Glossier, and Olay partnered with athletes.

ILIA’s step into the world of sports is timely — doubly so, considering fashion’s recent embrace of skiwear. In December, Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS collaborated with The North Face on a line of body-hugging on-piste offerings. Around the same time, Loro Piana dropped a hyper-luxe ski collection.
