There’s rarely a day when Angelo Baque’s streetwear label Awake NY isn’t plotting a new collaboration — whether it be snakeskin Nike Jordan sneakers or tapping London’s most exciting artists — and it has added another name to its varied collaboration roster: Coca-Cola.
The New York-based brand blends its streetwear sensibilities with classic iconography from Coca-Cola’s ubiquitous advertising across a nine-piece drop.
Likely inspired by early advertising campaigns, Coca-Cola’s signature phrase “it’s the real thing.” appears across a range of graphic-heavy pieces.
The slogan, which the drinks company has been using since the 1940s, finds itself on two styles of graphic tops: classic cotton tees with a large backprint alongside two colorful soccer jerseys.
Not only a collaboration between Awake NY and Coca-Cola, the two brands also enlisted the services of the iconic leather motorcycle jacket producer Vansom.
By far the most expensive item from the collection, retailing for just shy of $2,000, a Vansom-made leather jacket features various racing patches and embroidered graphics throughout its red and black body (utilizing Coca-Cola’s signature colors).
Available to shop now, this is the latest in a string of streetwear collaborations for Coca-Cola. Earlier this year, the soft drink giant also tapped ERL for a collaboration and has created football-inspired sets with this very magazine.
Clearly, the great taste of Coca-Cola extends to streetwear.
