Tamar Braxton Faces $2.4 Million Tax Liens from IRS

On Friday, Tamar Braxton revealed that she was being targeted by a tabloid for a story about her unpaid taxes. Her claims proved accurate, as reports that the singer and television personality has been hit with two separate tax liens accusing her of owing over $2 million to the IRS.

According to official records obtained by In Touch, the Internal Revenue Service filed the first lien against Braxton, 47, on July 13, 2023. The lien states that Braxton failed to pay a total of $2,200,894.14 for several tax years. Specifically, she owes $682,638.95 for 2015, $638,330.13 for 2016, $535,188.16 for 2017, $286,441.16 for 2020, and $58,295.74 for 2021.

The address listed on the lien is a four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 3,199 square-foot home in Atlanta, Georgia, which Braxton purchased in 2022 for $1.3 million.

In addition to the first lien, a second lien was filed on January 5, 2024, stating that Braxton failed to pay $213,781 for her 2022 taxes.

The total amount owed from both liens comes to $2,414,675.72. As of now, the IRS has not filed a release of either lien, indicating that the debt remains outstanding.

Braxton has not publicly commented on the liens since her initial announcement, but the revelation has undoubtedly added to the challenge she faces in managing her finances and public image.
