Chicago Sky star rookie Angel Reese’s record setting streak for most consecutive double-doubles just came to a screeching halt at 15, after her team’s 81–67 loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday (July 13).
Reese snatched 16 rebounds but only dropped eight points. And there you have it. Streak over.
Although the New York Liberty were missing their leading scorer, Breanna Stewart, who was sidelined due to a hamstring injury, the Liberty’s defense stepped up and put the handcuffs on Reese.

Get this, Reese had a chance to put up 10 buckets, with 17 seconds left but four, yes FOUR Liberty players encircled her in the paint. Shut down city.
Her poor shooting night didn’t help as Reese went 3-for-13 from the field.
Sabrina Ionescu, led the Liberty squad with 28 points and six assists. Buckets.
ICYMI, Reese set the WNBA record last Sunday with her 13th consecutive double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in a loss to the Seattle Storm. Gotta get those wins with the big numbers. Just saying.
The previous record holder was held by WNBA great Candace Parker, who achieved 12 straight double-doubles across the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
Still Reese set the record as a 22-year-old rookie in her first 20 WNBA games. Wild!
Parker established her streak in her eighth season at the age of 29. Amazing but Reese’s feat is way different in timing and experience.
Naturally, Reese currently leads the WNBA in rebounds, averaging 11.8 per game.
