According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, co-host Max Kellerman is strongly considering leaving “First Take” after five years to focus more on his ESPN Radio duties and other TV appearances. Kellerman hosts the “Max Kellerman Show” on ESPN Radio and a boxing show on ESPN2.

While nothing is reportedly finalized, Kellerman’s spot on the show isn’t expected to be filled. Instead, Smith will be alone with Molly Qerim Rose while other ESPN reporters, hosts, and guests make appearances.

Kellerman has been Smith’s debate partner since 2016, succeeding Skip Bayless. Kellerman will remain featured on the network’s boxing and MMA coverage, which includes live events. Should Kellerman land on the morning radio show, ESPN will also use him in other roles.

If this is to be the case, a new First Take with a round-robin of hosts challenging Smith’s take could make for some interesting debates, which could also mean a spike in ratings for ESPN.
