TipOff is similar to Taboo!, a word-guessing multi-player game that can be played in person or remotely. Created in response to a lack of African-American-focused mobile games, the app strives to be a source of laughter and entertainment for black people and those who love them.

The app has a streaming component that will allow players to connect withf riends and family at a distance, allowing eight players to connect for the virtual game.

TipOff has added several new and exciting categories including a category for Black music. Players have to Tip-Off each other to the keyword without saying any of the 5 words listed on the card. Each team member will have a turn as the “PLAYER” and as the “HATER”. The player describes the keyword while the hater guards the player on each card to make sure they do not violate the rules.

“Utilizing mobile platforms to host virtual game nights gave our team the idea that we had to shift our format a bit to elevate the user experience. This is where providing video-streaming and more options came into play ” says TipOff creator Astin Hayes. “I’m excited to now offer the game on a global scale to an assortment of different audiences, cultures, and ethnicities.”

TipOff will continue to offer monthly assorted word packs and offer in-person TipOff meetups and game nights for enthusiasts within the next year.
