In Garnett’s Instagram story on Thursday, he wrote that he “got the news that the process in trying to acquire the Timberwolves was over” for him and his group. In that post, Garnett hinted at the possibility of getting involved with ownership bids for potential expansion teams in Seattle and Las Vegas.

When you think of the Wolves as a franchise, the first name that comes to mind is Garnett. His issues with the current owner are deep rooted, even contributing to the fact that the Wolves haven’t even retired Garnett’s jersey yet.

Glen Taylor, who has owned the Wolves since 1994, has been fielding bids to sell the team since last summer. Garnett and a pair of billionaires recently got involved and placed a bid. Unfortunately, Garnett’s group is now out.

Taylor wants to sell the team to an owner willing to keep the Wolves in Minnesota long term. In December, he said that the COVID-19 pandemic slowed the process of selling the team.
