As the fashion industry continues to adjust to the effects of Covid-19, the organizers of Paris Fashion Week Men’s have taken cues from Milan and opted to go digital.
Starting on July 9, the timetable has been made official on the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode website where it lists regular Paris-based heavyweights such as Rick Owens, Hermès, Ludovic De Saint Sernin, and Dior as expected to show their Spring/Summer 2021 collections.
Partnering with the likes of Google, Instagram, and Hylink in China, the digital fashion week will allow each brand to submit a video presentation to showcase the new products and express the brand’s creativity.
The digitizing of fashion week this year has the potential to skewer the way we think of street style, FROW attendance, as well as interrogate the arguably old-fashioned connotations of exclusivity associated with prestigious fashion events. However, regular physical runway shows are expected to resume for the womenswear season, starting in September with mandatory social distancing.
