Thursdays aren’t the only time to throw it back. Britney Spears took over Apple Music’s I Miss Y2K playlist on Friday morning (May 29) and packed it with 30 amazing throwback tracks from the late 1990s and early 2000s that will give your serious millennium vibes.
“I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since a lot of these songs came out,” Spears told Apple Music in a statement released by the company. “For me these songs remind me of the time period when ‘Oops!’ came out, which was a special time for me. I hope you love them like I do.”
The playlist kicks off with Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby,” followed by Madonna’s “Music,” ‘NSYNC’s “It’s Gonna Be Me,” as well as classic tracks from Santana (“Smooth”), Christina Aguilera (“What a Girl Wants”), Jennifer Lopez (“Love Don’t Cost a Thing”), Beyoncé (“Crazy in Love”), Backstreet Boys (“Shape of My Heart”), Train (“Meet Virginia”), Usher (“My Boo”), Janet Jackson (“All For You”), TLC (“No Scrubs”) and P!nk (“There You Go”), and much more.
Describing some of her picks, Spears said of the Carey track, “Mariah is one of the main reasons I started singing…she is simply amazing… [‘Always Be My Baby’] is one of my favorites by her.”
She also had high praise for Bey, writing, “[‘Crazy in Love’] really makes me want to dance. Who better to make you want to dance than Beyonce?!” The playlist is up now, so if you’re ready to start “Livin La Vida Loca” again, check it out below.
