An unreleased Drake track surfaced online recently and it contained lyrics in which he referred to Kylie Jenner as his “side piece.” Now, Jenner and Drake have responded to the situation, which understandably took the internet by storm and reignited rumors regarding the pair’s romantic involvement.
Drake teased the song featuring frequent-collaborator Future in an appearance on OVO Mark’s Instagram Live last week. On the unnamed track, the Toronto rapper seemingly referenced last year’s dating rumors. “Yeah, I’m a hater to society / Real shit, Kylie Jenner that’s a side piece / Yeah, I got 20 motherfuckin’ Kylies.”
Drake quickly took to Instagram to apologize and explained that he hadn’t meant to “disrespect” his friend. “A song that Mark ran last night on night owl sound live set shouldn’t have been played,” he wrote.
“It’s a song that leaked 3 years ago and got scrapped shortly after. He was just going too deep in the Drake/Future catalog. Last thing I’d want to do is wake up having any friends of mine feeling disrespected so I just had to say that to start the day.” Read his statement below.
According to ENews!, Kylie Jenner “has no hard feelings” about the verse and “appreciated” the fact that Drake acted quickly to address the situation.
