Rising afro-jazz singer Nissi capped off the final day of performances for Billboard‘s Platoon Africa Artist Showcase with a moving black-and-white performance.
During her three-song set on Saturday (May 23), the London-based Nigerian singer, who is the younger sister of Burna Boy, delivered an encouraging message to viewers who may be struggling during the coronavirus pandemic.
“I know it’s a tough time for everyone living through these times,” Nissi said halfway through her first song “Pay Attention.” “But if we all stay together, do our part, help our frontline workers, we’ll all make it through and get back to our lives of being free.”
Dressed in a black leather jacket and shiny dress, and accompanied by a single guitarist, Nissi asked viewers to “be on their feet dancing” for her second song “Trouble.” The performance also featured her rousing track “Tornado.”
