Daft Punk will be scoring Dario Argento’s new movie, Occhiali Neri, which translates to “Black Glasses.” The Italian director revealed the news in a recent interview with Repubblica, which comes courtesy of The Film Stage.
“They are my admirers, they know all my cinema,” Argento said of Daft Punk. “They heard from French friends that I was shooting a new film and called me [to say], ‘We want to work with you.’”
The electronic duo is said to be sending Argento the first songs for the project in the near future, and they also plan to visit him in Rome post coronavirus. Furthermore, shooting for the film was originally scheduled to begin next month, but it has since been pushed back to September.
Occhiali Neri will reunite Dario with his daughter, Asia Argento. “It will be my return to crime films,” he said. “It’s the adventure, in the nocturnal Rome, of a Chinese girl and child. In the second part, the escape takes them into the rocky, bushy countryside of Lazio. [It’s] different from the sweetness of the Tuscan valleys, but for me beautiful.”
The score for Occhiali Neri will serve as Daft Punk’s first full-length release since 2013’s Random Access Memories and the group’s first film score since Tron: Legacy in 2010.
