Plus: Fiona Apple set for top 10 debut with "Fetch the Bolt Cutters."
DaBaby is bouncing toward his second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry forecasters expect his latest release, Blame It on Baby, to arrive atop next week’s tally with over 140,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending April 23. The majority of that sum will be driven by streaming activity for the 13-song album.
Blame It on Baby was released via SouthCoast/Interscope Records on April 17. The album follows the rapper’s previous release, Kirk, which debuted at No. 1 on the Oct. 12, 2019-dated list with 145,000 equivalent album units earned (according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data).
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the May 2-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Blame It on Baby could debut at No. 1) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s website on Sunday, April 26.
Assuming Blame It on Baby arrives at No. 1, it will bump The Weeknd’s After Hours from the top slot after four straight weeks atop the tally.
Also set for a top 10 debut on next week’s chart is Fiona Apple’s Fetch the Bolt Cutters. The Epic Records release is on track to launch with more than 40,000 equivalent album units earned.
Fetch the Bolt Cutters is Apple’s first album since 2012’s The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do, which debuted and peaked at No. 3 on the July 7, 2012-dated chart.
If Fetch the Bolt Cutters starts in the top 10, it will secure Apple her third top 10 effort. She also reached the region with 2005’s No. 7-peaking Extraordinary Machine (Oct. 22, 2005).
