For music fans celebrating the stoner holiday Monday (April 20), Billboard wants to pass along these 25 classic weed anthems. But which one is your favorite?
Snoop Dogg packs in a double feature on our 2015 list, from his joint with fellow smoker Wiz Khalifa and Bruno Mars for “Young, Wild and Free” from 2011 to Dr. Dre‘s famed 2000 hit “The Next Episode” featuring him, Kurupt and his late cousin Nate Dogg. Nate’s closing line, “Smoke weed every day,” left such an impression with listeners that they began improperly citing it as “Smoke Weed Everyday.”
Meanwhile, Rihanna would rather be smoking weed with her “James Joint” off her seminal 2016 album ANTI, which she specially passed off to fans ahead of the LP on her website to celebrate 4/20 in 2015. Don’t think Amy Winehouse will share hers based on the chorus of “Addicted,” “When you smoke all my weed, man/ You gots to call the green man/ So I can get mine and you get yours.” But the only thing Rick James is sharing is his affection for “Mary Jane” from his seductive pop-funk ballad that transposes marijuana into his leading lady who lights him up.
