Kiana Lede isn’t only enjoying her 23rd birthday today (April 3), but also the release of her long-awaited debut album, KIKI.
Anchored by her spicy single “Mad At You,” the 17-track collection finds the soulful songbird rubbing shoulders with some of R&B’s most promising stars, including Lucky Daye, Ari Lennox, and Arin Ray. Lede also collides with 6LACK on the remorseful “Second Chance.”
During her Billboard Live-At-Home session last week, Lede ruminated on the creative process for KIKI. “Literally, all of these songs are so close to my heart, but I would say ‘Cancelled’ is one that means the most to me,” she said. “‘Cause I wrote it about a friend, and her getting f–ked over by the same dude over and over again.”
