Karl Jordan Jr., one of the two men convicted of murdering Run-DMC legend Jam Master Jay, was reportedly stabbed during a fight inside MDC Brooklyn, where he is awaiting sentencing.
According to the New York Daily News, the 41-year-old Jordan was hospitalized following the weekend altercation but survived his injuries. Sources say the incident stemmed from tensions between rival gangs inside the facility.
Jordan was convicted in February 2023, along with Ronald Washington, for the 2002 execution-style killing of Jam Master Jay inside his Queens recording studio. Prosecutors revealed that Jordan fired two fatal shots at close range, one of which struck the hip-hop pioneer in the head. The motive behind the murder was linked to a drug deal gone wrong, with Jay allegedly obtaining 10 kilograms of cocaine worth approximately $1.7 million before his death.
In 2023, a third suspect, Jay Bryant (49), was charged in the case after DNA evidence tied him to the crime scene. Prosecutors allege that all three men entered the studio that night before fleeing after the fatal shooting.
Meanwhile, legal battles surrounding the case continue. Last April, Washington filed an appeal, claiming prosecutors failed to establish his involvement in the so-called “drug conspiracy” that was central to the case. Court documents obtained by HipHopDX show that Washington is pushing for a judgment of acquittal or, at minimum, a new trial. He argues that no testimony from other defendants directly implicated him in the crime.
As for Bryant, the final defendant in the case, reports indicate that he was previously considering a plea deal, though no further updates have surfaced.
With Jordan’s stabbing adding another layer of turmoil to an already complex case, the fallout from Jam Master Jay’s murder remains far from over.
