Erica Campbell Scores Her Third Solo Gospel Airplay No. 1: ‘Our World Needs Some Hope and Joy’

Erica Campbell collects her third solo No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart as “Feel Alright (Blessed)” tops the tally dated July 29. The song increased by 3% in plays in the tracking week ending July 20, according to Luminate.

The single is from Campbell’s album I Love You, due Sept. 15. She co-wrote it with husband Warryn Campbell and Marvin L. Winans.

“I’m so excited about this song hitting No. 1,” she tells Billboard. “Our world needs some hope and joy. ‘Feel Alright (Blessed)’ really helped me realize that I am blessed, and I want other folks to realize and dance about it! I hope to feel alright today, and I hope that people feel the love of Jesus through listening to this track.”

Campbell, based in Los Angeles, is also the host of the nationally syndicated radio show Get Up! Mornings With Erica Campbell.

Campbell – who is also half of duo Mary Mary with sister Trecina – adds her third Gospel Airplay No. 1 as a soloist, all earned in consecutive appearances, after “Positive” reigned for three weeks in August 2022, followed by “Call” (with Jor’dan Armstrong), which dominated for two frames in December. She boasts seven solo top 10s.

Mary Mary boasts three Gospel Airplay chart-toppers among nine top 10s. The tandem’s initial entry, “Heaven,” dominated for 15 frames beginning in June 2005. The pair led again with “God in Me,” featuring Kierra “Kiki” Sheard (seven weeks, beginning in June 2009), and as featured with Le’Andria Johnson on PJ Morton’s “All in His Plan” (one week, September 2020).
