KITH & Birkenstock’s Relationship Status Update: Entwined

When it comes to collaborations, KITH stays busy. Fresh off a sought-after linkup with Clarks and adidas, it looks like the Queens brand plans to team up with Birkenstock again.

KITH founder Ronnie Fieg took to Instagram to tease first looks at the collaboration, which appears to be a spin on Birkenstock’s London silhouette. We’ve seen KITH issue cozy Arizonas and colorblocked Kyoto’s in the past.

In the video, the collaborative London appears with a black suede upper joined by Birkenstock’s traditional metal buckles.

The most eye-catching detail is the woven element wrapping the entire upper, prompting fans to call the unreleased shoes the “Footscape Birkenstocks” (after the Nike shoes known for its distinctive weaving design).

On the other hand, others brought up Sebago — the Maine luxury label praised for its woven-detailed boat shoes — during the KITH reveal.

KITH joins a couple of other labels like Union LA, children of the discordance, Supreme, and sacai to hop on the woven footwear wave that continues picking up speed by the day. Do I detect a new footwear trend on the horizon? It’s starting to look that way.

Nonetheless, the understated but unique take on the Birks already has won over KITH fans, with many prepping their pockets for the release.

Speaking of release details, Fieg states that the Birkenstock collaboration is “coming.” Basically, we could see official word from KITH any day. So, keep your eyes open.
