With Jorts & Tie-Dye, BAPE x COMME des GARCONS Feels Like Summer ’95

It’s about that time again: time for new BAPE x COMME des GARÇONS.

Back for their regularly scheduled seasonal release, the two minds prepare to issue their Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

Tie-dye leads the BAPE x COMME des GARÇONS’ SS23 collection, materializing as dual-branded tees, a roomy button-up shirt, and a matching bucket hat.

The brand also brings back its trompe l’oeil chain tee, as seen in seasons past like FW22. This time, BAPE and CdG reimagine the beloved piece with BABY MILO as the necklace’s pendant.

And for those wishing the chain was real as you read this, consider your wish granted. BAPE and CdG will also have an IRL BABY MILO chain up for grabs as part of the SS23 collection. Seriously.

A pair of collaborative jorts (that’s jean shorts) also join the drop, rendered in an indigo wash and stamped with upside A Bathing Ape x COMME des GARÇONS branding.

BAPE x COMME des GARÇONS finishes out with some customary black and white tee options, socks, and tote bags, riffed with CdG’s logo and BAPE’s famed floating Ape Head. Surprisingly though, no STAs or footwear this go-around.

Jorts? Tie-dye? Bucket hats? The BAPE x COMME des GARÇONS collection — which lands on April 22 at BAPE’s Osaka store — feels more like summer in the 90s than anything. But I ain’t mad at it, and apparently, neither are the brands’ fans who took to BAPE’s Instagram comments with fire emojis and Let’s goooooo’s.

Whether it be collaborative shark hoodies or super minimalist tees, BAPE and CdG still gets the people going, and the SS23 is no exception.
