Salehe Bembury x New Balance 2002: Official First Look & Info

Singer-songwriter and noted sneakerhead John Mayer uploaded images of the Salehe Bembury x New Balance 2002 to his Instagram stories, which the Versace designer subsequently posted to his feed, offering the best look yet at the highly-anticipated collaboration. Bembury had previously teased the existence of the project late last year.

The sneaker features a burnt orange upper with fuschia/yellow/blue detailing and a combination of large-hole mesh (as seen on the original 2002 model), contrasting rough suede, and a two-toned rubber outsole.

Speaking to FootwearNews earlier in the month, the footwear guru and current vice president of sneakers and men’s footwear at Versace explained his initial inspiration behind the new design:

“The collaboration was inspired by my recent attraction and time spent in nature. Since moving to the West Coast, I’ve really got to take advantage of all the National Parks in close proximity — Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Antelope Canyon, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite Park.”

Currently, there’s no information on when the Salehe Bembury x New Balance 2002 is expected to be released. Stay tuned for updates.
