There haven’t been many bright moments over the past week, during which Pres. Trump threatened to send the military to quell protests in American cities and endless footage of police hitting protesters with batons and “less-lethal” rubber bullets have filled our feeds.
But on Thursday (June 4), the unlikely duo of Ice-T and soft rock legend Bruce Hornsby came together on Twitter when the “Original Gangster” retweeted Hornsby’s post about a group of marchers blasting Tupac Shakur‘s 1992 anthem “Changes” as they danced and sang together.
“This is so beautiful,” tweeted Hornsby, whose 1986 hit “The Way It Is” is sampled on the track that tackles police violence against black Americans, the war on drugs, mass incarceration and economic inequality, wrapped up in a plea for change.
Ice-T responded with the message, “The so-called violent protesters…” The footage was reportedly shot at a march this week in New Zealand in support of the nearly two weeks of protests in all 50 U.S. states in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
