Lupe Fiasco Reworks Eminem's 'Stan' After Fan Calls Him Out

In case you thought Lupe Fiasco didn’t check his DMs, he proved he does after reworking Eminem’s “Stan” for a desperate fan who sought after his attention on Instagram on Tuesday (May 26).

Titled “Pat on the Back,” Fiasco wrote a letter to a fan named Pat Rooney, who called him out for being non-responsive to his supporters on Instagram. Before releasing the track, the Chi-Town lyricist screenshot the one-sided conversation Pat initiated and captioned the post “Acknowledgement.” Then, Lupe cleverly flipped the situation to his benefit by penning a five-minute freestyle, which explained why he hasn’t interacted with fans and more.

“So you might have hit me, I just wanna say I didn’t see it/ And I know you DM’d me, and that was supposed to be our little secret/ But I felt your language came a little strong/ Cut me some slack, I can’t keep track of everything that’s going on,” spits Fiasco.

He even goes far enough to applaud Pat for opening his eyes when dealing with fan interaction on social media. “So I just wanna say Pat Rooney, I think you’re cool/ And this whole experience really gave me some jewels/ A real opportunity to set up some rules/ Not to be a jerk and not to be cruel.”

“Stan” resides on Eminem’s third album, Marshall Mathers LP, which turned 20 last Saturday (May 23).
