Diddy Responds to Lizzo Body-Shaming Accusations

This weekend, Diddy‘s Instagram Live dance-a-thon generated an estimated $3.7 million to help communities during the coronavirus pandemic. The nine-hour-long party was full of talking points, including Diddy reuniting with his ex, J.Lo, and his former adversary Drake. Unfortunately, however, the event also caused controversy after Diddy interrupted Lizzo while she twerked to Moneybagg Yo’s “1 2 3.”

“It’s Easter Sunday—let’s play something a little bit family-friendly” he said to the “Juice” singer. However, when Basketball Wives LA personality Draya Michele twerked to “Back That Azz Up,” Diddy didn’t step in to maintain the PG-rating.

Diddy has responded to claims he showed a fat-phobic double standard towards Lizzo. In a later post, he called Lizzo one of the “best twerkers in the world.”

“It wasn’t about twerking. You’re allowed to twerk on Easter. It was a lot of cursing in the record and I don’t need child services knocking on my door right now, you understand?” he told fans.

Moneybagg Yo’s “1 2 3” and “Back That Azz Up” by Juvenile contain most of the same “offensive” terms with the same regularity.
