Kim Kardashian West Wants to Free C-Murder

Kim Kardashian West has joined the fight to free the rapper Corey “C-Murder” Miller after key witnesses recanted their testimonies, saying that they were pressured by police and prosecutors to identify Miller as the shooter in the murder of 16-year-old Steven Thomas. C-Murder’s brother, Master P, and R&B singer Monica have been leading the call to free the rapper.

Miller was sentenced to life in prison in 2009, after being convicted of a shooting in a nightclub in Louisiana in 2002. The rapper has appealed the conviction multiple times. In 2018, two key witnesses recanted their testimonies, saying that they were pressured by police and prosecutors to identify Miller as the shooter. In an affidavit filed in 24th Judicial District Court records, witness Kenneth Jordan recanted his statement, saying: “I know that the individual who I saw shoot the gun was not Corey Miller.”

In a series of tweets this Sunday, Kardashian West wrote: “The jury convicted Corey 10-2 and he was sentenced to life in prison. If his trial was today, the jury would have had to be unanimous for him to be convicted.”

According to Nola.com, Miller’s attorney alleges the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives and prosecutors knowingly forced Jordan to make false statements by threatening him with criminal charges in another matter.

In her Twitter thread, Kardashian West stated: “Since his trial, witnesses have recanted, new evidence of his potential innocence has come to light, and there are claims of jurors being pressured into voting to convict.”

R&B singer Monica, who was dating C-Murder around the time of his incarceration, has long been advocating for Miller’s release, and reached out to Kardashian West to bring attention to the case.
