Drake's Upcoming Album 'Certified Lover Boy': Everything We Know

Drake is gearing up for his anticipated album release. The rapper just announced the title for the upcoming project, Certified Lover Boy, which is set to drop any day now.

The Champagne Papi made the announcement earlier this week when he dropped the star-studded visuals for “Laugh Now Cry Later,” featuring Lil Durk. “Laugh Now Cry Later off my next studio album CERTIFIED LOVER BOY ,” he wrote on Instagram for his 70 million followers.

The “Laugh Now Cry Later” video features cameos from Kevin Durant, Odell Beckham Jr., and Marshawn Lynch. In the clip, the Lover Boy title is briefly referenced on the back of Drake’s Nike jersey in a scene. At the end of the Dave Meyers-directed clip, the initials “CLB” and a rose appear on screen.

However, according to  Complex, Lover Boy Drake isn’t actually certified. Drake’s attorney’s attempted to file a trademark for “Certified Lover Boy,” but the application was rejected to avoid “confusion” with the Canadian rock band Loverboy.

There is currently very little information available about Drizzy’s project other than that it will be released through OVO Sound and Drake’s mysterious Frozen Moments company. Aside from “Laugh Now Cry Later,” there are no other singles or leaks from the upcoming album.

Certified Lover Boy is Canadian rapper’s sixth studio album, the follow up to 2018’s Scorpion. On May 1, 2020, Drake dropped his fifth solo mixtape Dark Lane Demo Tapes as a precursor to the album. With the surprise release, he announced that an album would be released during the Summer of 2020.
