50 Cent Wants You to Vote for the New Pop Smoke Album Cover

Pop Smoke‘s label is going back to the drawing board after artwork for his posthumous album, designed by Virgil Abloh, was met with a lot of fan backlash. 50 Cent, who is an executive producer on the album, is now asking fans to vote for an alternative.

On Tuesday morning, 50 took to Twitter to chime in on the backlash, agreeing with fans that the art was less than satisfactory. “Hey Virgil we need new album art, they ain’t going for this bullsh*t,” 50 wrote. “Steven (Victor — head of Pop’s label, Victor Victor Worldwide) i told you this shit was … eww let’s get it right!”

In a bid to get some new cover art for Pop’s album, 50 took to Instagram to share some 35 fan-submitted alternatives. The rapper asked for fans to drop their votes in the comments on a scale from one to 10 to help him find the best image based on popular ranking.

When Alboh’s cover was unveiled on Monday, many fans took to Twitter to dub the designer’s work “disrespectful.” In response, Victor tweeted that Pop would have listened to his fans so they are “MAKING A CHANGE. B R B. H E A R D Y O U.” He also took to Instagram to explain the label’s response in more detail.

“As pop’s label & as his friends/family, it is our obligation to bring his vision to life,” he wrote. “he wanted virgil to lead creative, we fulfilled his wishes however, unfortunately, he’s not here to give his final approval his fans, are. You know why you love pop your voices are loud and clear he loved his fans and listened to his fans.”

He ended his message “see you July 3rd 2020,” a clear indicator that the album is still expected to arrive on Friday. Check out Abloh’s design below and keep scrolling to find a fraction of the fan backlash.
