Swizz Beatz Says He Was in the 'Wrong Space' After Calling Out Drake

This past weekend, Swizz Beatz didn’t hold back when speaking on Drake during his Zone Radio episode with Busta Rhymes

On Saturday (June 20), the acclaimed producer took offense to Drake’s inability to communicate with Rhymes about a record the two worked on together years ago, resulting in the song remaining unreleased. Irked by Drizzy’s errant mistake, Swizz called him out saying: “Because at the end of the day, n—s is pussy for real. What’s up? Pop off. Let’s go.”

Rhymes looked to defuse the tension by saying there was no bad blood between him and Drake after the song leaked prematurely last week. “I don’t want to get it misconstrued,” he said. “He didn’t come to me to make a record with me. He wanted to do [J Dilla’s] beat. Dilla beats. That’s what it was about. That’s all I’m saying.” In response, Swizz said he had nothing personal against Drake, and if he did, he would “shoot [his] plane out the sky.”

“My whole energy was based on something that got leaked that you couldn’t put out no matter what the circumstances is,” Swizz said. “But it’s cool. That’s a little kid. That’s a guy. That’s a little guy. It’s no personal things. If it was personal we’d shoot your plane out the sky.”

The following day, Swizz issued an apology for his statements against Drake, claiming that he was drinking while conversing with Busta and was in the “wrong space.”

OVO affiliate Chubbs also offered his two cents, shunning Swizz’s peace offering. “We don’t need no apology,” he wrote. “It’s clear you don’t like us so act that same way when you see us. P—.”

Drake and Swizz teamed up on the rapper’s 2010 debut album Thank Me Later for the song “Fancy.”
