George Floyd: Meek Mill, LeBron James & More Demand Justice

Yet another incident of fatal police brutality against the black community surfaced on social media. The murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis on Monday, May 25, has sparked outrage, with notable figures in entertainment speaking out to demand justice.

According to CNN, officers attempted to arrest Floyd on suspicion of forgery. Passersby filmed the incident, showing an officer kneeling on the back of Floyd’s neck. The 46-year-old was face down on the pavement repeatedly screaming, “Please, I can’t breathe!” The officer ignored Floyd’s pleas and those of onlookers, until Floyd goes quiet, appearing to lose consciousness. Much later Floyd was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

This latest gut-wrenching instance of a black man dying at the hands of police has once again drawn widespread condemnation and provoked protests, with many taking to the streets holding “I Can’t Breathe” signs.

LeBron James, Snoop Dogg, Ariana Grande, and Meek Mill are among the celebrities joining the cry for justice on social media. Scroll down to see their reactions.
