Kehlani's New Album 'It Was Good Until It Wasn’t': Stream

Kehlani just dropped It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, her new 15-track album that features guest artists like Tory Lanez, Jhené Aiko, James Blake, Masego, Lucky Daye, and production credits from the likes of Boi-1da, Andrew “Pop” Wansel, and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s go-to producer G. Ry.

As soon as the album dropped, it hit the top trend on Twitter, with fans losing it over her brutally honest exploration of toxic relationships and grief. The final words on the album are delivered by Lexii Alijai, Kehlani’s friend and collaborator, who passed away from an overdose earlier this year.

Earlier this week, Kehlani explained to Apple Music’s R&B Now with Nadeska how Drake helped her to name the project. “We had went to Canada to finish our, I always say ‘our’ album because I fuck with my team so heavy, like, it was me, my videographer, my little play brother that I co-write with, my assistants. So, I went to go finish the project, and the last day we went with Boi-1da and ended up going to Drake’s house.”

She continued, “We’re just having, like, a life conversation, talking about the old music, talking about what we’re both ’bout to do. And then I was just talking about [my] personal life and I was just like, ‘Man, yeah it was good until it wasn’t’ and he was like, ‘Say that shit again,’ and I was like ‘What?’ and he was like ‘That’s your album.’ And I was like, ‘You might be fuckin’ right.’”
