YG Is Spreading a Dangerous 5G Coronavirus Conspiracy Theory

YG is the latest celebrity to promote a bogus coronavirus conspiracy theory that’s causing havoc in the UK. In his recent Instagram Story, the Compton-born rapper suggested that there’s a link between 5G wireless network towers and the global coronavirus pandemic.

“They telling us stay in the house kuz they don’t want us to see all them new 5G towers they putting up….. – stay woke,” he wrote. Unfortunately, he’s not the only celebrity using his platform to spread misinformation about the spread of the virus and 5G.

A few weeks ago, American singer Keri Hilson tweeted that radiation from the towers was causing the pandemic. She warned, “5G launched in CHINA. Nov 1, 2019. People dropped dead. See attached & go to my IG stories for more. TURN OFF 5G by disabling LTE!!!”

According to The Verge, at least seven cell towers have been set on fire in the past week in the UK as the conspiracy theory continues to spread online. One of the towers set on fire wasn’t even a 5G mast.

Yesterday, the Guardian reported that YouTube will reduce the amount of content spreading the 5G conspiracy theories as four more attacks were recorded on phone masts within 24 hours.
