Lauren London Honors Nipsey Hussle One Year After Death: 'I Promise I Will Make You Proud'

On the first anniversary of Nipsey Hussle’s passing (March 31), his girlfriend, Lauren London, paid tribute to him with an endearing poem on Instagram.

London explained how she continues to remain positive for her children and how she’s still deeply affected by his passing. “Time is deceptive. It’s been a year since you transitioned. The pain is as heavy today as it was a year ago. God knows I would give anything to see you again. I didn’t think I was going to survive a second of any of this,” she wrote.

Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, was killed outside of his clothing store last year in Los Angeles. He was 33. Hussle posthumously won multiple Grammys at this year’s awards ceremony after losing out on the best rap album in 2018. Along with London, DJ Khaled, Roddy Ricch, Meek Mill, and more offered their touching words on Instagram on Tuesday.

“As today makes a year, I stand strong because of you. Because I know you wouldn’t have it any other way. Because I recall every late night conversation we had about resilience and fear. Because you were my greatest teacher and because you are still with us, in spirit,” said London.

“With every breath i take I honor you,” London continued. “I carry this pain with purpose. I promise I will make you proud. I promise to apply everything you taught me. In life and in death. Ermias Asghedom. There will never be another.”
